Crystal Springs Mountain Lodge - Mpumalanga

Relax, recharge and reflect on life in tranquil mountain surroundings

Majestic views, a warm fireplace at night to charm the evening chill and sunshine at day, wildlife on one’s doorstep, monkey and troops of baboons entertaining one with antics while they browse through forested areas with babies in tow, a joy to watch.  Long walks, amongst forested pine reserves mature trees and baby sapling Christmas trees. There are heated swimming facilities, and large outdoor pools for enjoyment.  As a family resort the children are well catered for with trampolines and games room. They also have two tennis courts and mini golf.

Crystal Springs is worth a visit.  The resort and chalets have a rustic mountain lodge feel which blends into the setting.  One can look forward to game drives with sightings of zebra, warthog, giraffe, wildebeest, eland, kudu and if lucky leopard. Crystal Springs is situated about three to four hours drive from Johannesburg and is a picturesque resort on 5000 hectares of countryside. It is a haven incorporating spectacular cliffs and gorges, forests and sweeping views. There are also popular destinations within easy reach for a morning’s outing, the dramatic God’s Window view point; trout farms & fishing as well as the Kruger National Park

God’s Window

With magnificent views, canyons, rock formations and waterfalls, God's Window is truly an area of breathtaking scenic splendour. It is no wonder that Mpumalanga is known as Paradise Country! God's Window is so called for the panoramic view of the Lowveld more than 900 m down into lush indigenous forest clad ravine. The majestic cliffs plunge over 700 meters to the Lowveld and the private game reserves which have made the area one of South Africa's main wildlife destinations. God's Window is a small part of a 250km long earthwork of sheer cliffs and nature’s beauty.

The weather at Crystal Springs and the surrounding area is very changeable. On our stay, we experienced every season.  On arrival, even in summer you are issued with bundles of wood for the chalet indoor fireplace.  We had hot summer weather, wet, freezing cold weather and mist all within a few days.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would go there again given an opportunity to do so.
