I discovered the website Booking.com a year ago
I
travelled to Cape Town for the Easter weekend
hoping to fulfill a dream – to gallop on horse back for miles and miles along the
8km long stretch of Noodhoek
Beach . The dream is still unfulfilled due to the
inclement weather of the weekend and the horse back riding operator cancelled
the day’s rides. What a major
disappointment especially when the sun shone brightly the following day when I
bordered my plane for return trip to Johannesburg .
Ah
well, despite the weather I did enjoy a drive around the peninsula and did not
have to go far to find excellent food and wine.
In fact I was staying right in the heart of a foodies fantasy. Right on the doorstep of my designated Booking.com
weekend getaway: the Cape Heritage Hotel situated in Bree Street , Cape Town
has a few of Cape Town ’s
best restaurants right under its wing in the Cape Heritage Square building.
HQ and Savoy Cabbage Restaurant & Champagne Bar
So foodies look no further, book a week or a few days and savour the fare and flair of a few of the best restaurants in Cape Town all based at the Cape Heritage Square. Enjoy the new trend in dining out at HQ with limited choice of one starter and only one main course. Simply delicious - green salad, chips and steak. So delicious I assure you that my photos will make you drool. Or treat your inner soul and taste buds to the restaurant with icon status - the Savoy Cabbage and sparkle in the Savoy Cabbage Champagne Bar. There are plenty of other choices for quick or casual meals (or not so casual) – the Gourmet Burger or Thai Noodles will hit the spot for a quick bite.
Comfortable
rooms in this boutique hotel (fifteen bedrooms and two suites) all individually
styled with a different theme invite one in for a great break from routine. The Cape Heritage Hotel offers easy access to
the city’s vibrant street life, business area, shopping, and fine dining. Nearby attractions include Signal Hill, Company Gardens ,
Castle of Good Hope , V&A Waterfront and the
Convention Centre as well as some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Clifton Beach is just a quick twenty minute drive away.
As an
integral part of the restored Heritage
Square , the hotel’s roots run deep into the 18th
century
The central courtyard is shaded by the oldest known fruit-bearing
grapevine in South Africa
As they say
“It’s an oasis of calm from which to explore all that the Mother City
has to offer…..”
