Goldfish - Washing Over Me

After their international signing to EMI, South Africa’s proudest electronic export Goldfish are well and truly back with their new single Washing Over Me - and it’s destined to be a “smasher” they say.

Washing Over Me was released digitally on 14 May 2012 www.goldfishlive.com

AND many of us had the pleasure of hearing their new release the day prior to its digital release on 13 May 2012 at a live performance at the Johannesburg Country Club.  This must have been the Fishies youngest and most laidback crowd of fans bopping away to their funked up, electro tinged boogie music sound.  Families and fans picnic-ed on the rolling green lawns of the Johannesburg Country Club grounds and every age from 3 months to 63 years bopped, boogied & rocked the afternoon away. (Concert slideshow link reference at the end of this blog).

Their CD – PERCEPTIONS OF PACHA – I have a copy………..purchased a few years back secured their fan base, so if you guys and dolls want to hear some of the best sounds out of Africa, best to get on down to their concert in Amsterdam on Friday 15 June or in London on Saturday 16 June.

No stranger to South African fans, Goldfish hold numerous SAMA awards, Platinum sales and a massive following in their home country.  As well as being residents for DJ Megastar David Guetta’s night at Pacha Ibiza for the second year running last week.  With a slew of headline festival bookings across Europe including Extrema and Rock in Rio Madrid, the Fishies are looking forward to a very busy European Summer.

Best of all……..for you London folk

Goldfish – The Fishies Background

Dom Peters (tall and blonde) : Double Bass, Keyboards, Groove Box
Dom Peter's music career began at age 6 when he made the Recorder First XI. His first actual electronic keyboard followed a few years later, and after a brief and regrettable "Roxette" phase, Dom discovered Jazz and never looked back, coupling a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance from UCT and a busy session musician schedule on piano, keyboards and double bass.

Dave Poole (with Sax appeal) : Tenor and Soprano Sax, Samplers, Effects, Mixing
Dave Poole’s musical journey began with a sadistic violin teacher at age 6. A bit later he was put in a room with wall-to-wall instruments and told pick one. It turned out to be a sax. Fast forward a few years and he did his first gig age 13 with his rock band (which eventually became Dorp). After school he went to study Jazz at UCT, this is where he met his long time studio partner Emagics Logic (Audio recording and sequencing software) .In the studio with Dorp he spent more time behind the desk than in front of it.

David and Dom joined forces to make an electronic/live duo and the rest is history with a fantastic future ahead.  They are and their music is, in their own words ‘groovylicious’.
