Angels 7 - I Am An African
Attending this exhibition was one of the highlights of my holiday to the Cape this year. The vineyard and mountain setting is truly beautiful, and the layout of the grounds tranquil and inspirational reflecting nature at its best giving one a sense of peace about the outer beauty of the world we live in. One can walk with ease and spend time admiring the various sculpted pieces. The gallery exhibition’s art works are magnificent in their diversity from rural country landscapes with natural grace, to others representing inner conflict and social landscapes in a South African context.
The
seventh annual Angels exhibition at The Gallery at Grande Provence Heritage
Wine Estate, Franschhoek, opened on Sunday, 9 December 2012 and is on view
until 27 February 2013.
“This year the theme references one of the greatest African speeches ever delivered - to visually celebrate our identity, growth, achievements and the beauty of our people, land and cityscapes.
The exhibition
also aims to communicate the critical social and other challenges that
currently face our society and environment. All aspects of life in contemporary
South Africa are represented”.
Curator of Exhibitions
Curator Carina Bekker studied Fine Art and thereafter became involved with interior design, specialising in decorative painting.
