Peach Café – Camdeboo Farm

Rustic setting and farm-style food at Peach Café

Peach Café had a write up in the Fourways Review Options supplement under their “Desirables” page this week so I headed off yesterday to explore and discover what Peach Café has to offer. Travelling along Witkoppen Road drive past the two robot intersections at the Buzz & Waterford turns offs. Thereafter turn right into Market Road before the Corner Pub landmark and right again. The road then bends into Selbourne Road and Peach Café is well sign posted so you won’t get lost. It was just my luck that on my arrival the venue was decked out to the nines showing it off at its best due to a wedding reception that was about to take place. The venue is extremely rustic with the most basic of structures and buildings. It is very much an open, outdoor experience and this is what will appeal to many people and children.

I didn’t get to sample any of their fare as the venue was effectively closed to the public but here is what the Fourways Review reported and there is a great deal for you to read on the Camdeboo Farm website. The food sounds and looks delicious!

“Peach Café at Camdeboo Farm is the perfect little Joburg oasis to put your feet up and enjoy the countryside. Think rustic surrounds, gourmet food, scrumptious wood-fired pizza, a spot of peach picking, picnics and a farm-style shop filled to the brim with preserves and home-made goodies. Its food, which changes with the season, is the absolute freshest of fresh as it’s harvested right there on the farm. Definitely try the freshly made vegetable juice – it’s out of this world – and while you’re kicking back the kids can roam around in the orchard picking fruit from the trees and checking the tunnels or open veggie patches to see what’s growing”.

A return visit on a hot day to try out Peach Café’s highly rated food is a must on my upcoming list of things to do. Weather plays a key role in choosing the day to visit as it is primarily an outdoor experience and would be best visited once the summer rains and heavy down pours have dried! At the moment the peaches are still green in the orchards but will be a popular outing for families with children. The peach orchards are open for picking from the last weekend in October to early December. View more photos taken yesterday - click on the link below:
