High on the Westcliff ridge stands the Orient-Express affiliated Westcliff Hotel.  The Westcliff has the most stunning views across Johannesburg.  Sitting on top of the ridge one can view the Parks suburbs, the Saxonwold avenues and the Johannesburg Zoo.  One can almost make out the shape of an elephant and that is not from drinking too many pink gins! Some describe the Westcliff as a “stylish Mediterranean hillside village, with spectacular views over the zoological gardens”.

The Polo Bar

With the worst of the winter weather still to hit us, keep in mind the Polo Bar as a place of refuge and comfort on a dismal Saturday or Sunday afternoon or evening where you can warm yourself up in the bar next to the fireplace with a hot Irish coffee or something to your taste.  This has to be the coziest spot in Gauteng!
