Twitter’s Operating Principle – “Be a Force for Good”

The Mission of Twitter is to Promote Open Information

Claire Diaz-Ortiz Head of Twitter Inc says Twitter can be an immensely powerful tool for organizations that want to make a difference in the world.  The mission of Twitter is to promote open information. Twitter works because it is simple and easy to use.  The barrier to entry is low and the potential for impact is high.  Twitter is much, much more than a social media network; rather, it is a global real-time information network.

The Beauty and Benefits of Twitter
It does not take one long to see the huge potential and benefits to business in participating in Twitter.  Whether a business is involved in corporate social responsibility initiatives or are just building customer relationships and building bridges with networks in industry, prospective clients and the larger global community – Twitter is an awesome tool to creating awareness of your business, traffic flow to your website, knowledge of your products or services, your launches and your blog or newsletters.  In just 140 characters Twitter gives your business a personality and becomes a face and a voice for the world to interact with.  Twitter is fun, should not be taken too seriously but should have seriously good content depicting your business personality to draw attention to your fabulous service and product offering and unique differentiating qualities.

The beauty of Twitter is that one can actually Twitter for good, and change the world, just with one tweet at a time.  The process is obviously easier for those who have a large following as your reach is only as large as your, following and as large as the greater good of that whole when the content is retweeted to others that are not as yet following you but may well be converted to followers.  With time your reach will grow and multiply with lots of Twitter fledglings doing their good work for you, spreading your tweet, and awareness of your business profile. With the use of key words of interests or topics or hashtags # your content is top of mind as a profile fit suitable for other Twitter account holders to follow.

Another beauty of Twitter is that within your Twitter strategy to target, write, engage and explore you can track the results every six months or so and see if you have built a healthy following, reached certain goals and outcomes.
