Save Our Rhino

SAVE THE RHINO is a Sting Music and Endangered Wildlife Trust initiative. View website:

448 rhino were killed in 2011 in South Africa alone.  Not even half way through January 2012, and 21 rhino had been illegally poached and this figure has since climbed up to 33. Despite the efforts of so many, if the predictions are true, should poaching continue to escalate, the wild rhino could become extinct in less than a decade.  View wildlife photos:
The double CD compilation features 40 of some of South Africa’s best loved artists and groups including Johnny Clegg, Prime Circle, Zebra & Giraffe, Lira, Dave van Vuuren, Yoav, Elvis Blue, Locnville, Wonderboom, Chris Chameleon and many more.  South African musicians say “we have to fight this! The rhino is a powerful, prehistoric genesis of the life of Africa. The responsibility lies in our hands and we can all make a difference together".
"Let’s not just talk about saving our rhino – let’s do it”.
The Save Our Rhino CD compilation is available nationwide at CNA, Musica and Pick n Pay.
10% of the profits will go towards the EWT in their fight to develop workable solutions to address the scourge of rhino poaching. Already, the EWT are deploying sniffer dogs at airports, training a range of law enforcement personnel and developing support networks for orphaned rhinos. By assisting in promoting this album, the media will be making a contribution to raising the awareness of this cause and helping to raise funds that will assist the EWT in their endeavours.
The media launch was held on Thursday, 16th of February from 18h30 at The Victory Theatre in Houghton Estate, Johannesburg.  The media had the opportunity to meet with the EWT team and the various artists and are currently broadcasting the promotion of the album.  Help to save our rhino by buying the “Save our Rhinos” Album!
